Pioneer Middle School Level 2 Consequences

Friday School: Friday School is both a level one and a level two consequence that may be assigned by a classroom teacher or school administrator.

  • Parents or guardians will be notified when their child is assigned to Friday School.
  • Friday School runs from 2:35 to 5:35 on Friday afternoons.
  • Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation home from Friday School.
  • Students are expected to work on school assignments while in Friday School.
  • Students who misbehave or are disrepectful during the lunch detention step are choosing to trade a three hour Friday School for a day of In School Suspension (ISS).

In School Suspension (ISS):  A student in ISS is temporarily removed from the regular classroom for a specified amount of time, generally one to three days.

  • Parents or guardians will be notified when their child is assigned to ISS.
  • Students assigned to ISS may not participate in extra-curricular activities (including sports) on the day(s) they are in ISS.

Out of School Suspension (OSS):

  • There are two types of OSS -
    • Short term - 10 days or less
    • Long term - up to 90 days
  • During an OSS, students are not allowed on Pioneer's campus or on any Steilacoom School District property - including athletic venues.
