Expectations
Pioneer Middle School Level 1 Consequences

  • Processing:  Processing is a short time-out out of the classroom where the student does some reflective writing about the choices he/she has made and how those choices impact the learning in the classroom. 
    • Processing is assigned when a student has not responded to a teacher's directive or redirection.
    • Students processed more than twice in one week will be assigned a Lunch Detention.
    • Students who misbehave or are disrespectful during the processing step are choosing to trade a ten minute time-out for a 30 minute Lunch Detention.
  • Lunch Detention:  Lunch detention is served during a student's regular lunch period and may be assigned by teachers or any other staff member.
    • Parents or guardians will be notified when their child is assigned a lunch detention.
    • Students assigned to lunch detention may bring their own lunch from home or purchase a sack lunch from school.
    • Students in lunch detention are to remain quiet and follow the directions of the lunch detention supervisor.  
    • Students who misbehave or are disrepectful during the lunch detention step are choosing to trade a 30 minute lunch detention for a 60 minute after school detention.
  • After School Detention: After school detention may be assigned when processing and lunch detention have already been tried or when the behavior is more extreme and warrants a greater consequence.
    • Parents or guardians will be notified when their child is assigned an after school detention.
    • After school detention runs daily for one hour after the dismissal bell (2:35 to 3:25)
    • Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation home after detention.
    • Students who misbehave or are disrepectful during the lunch detention step are choosing to trade a 60 minute after school detention for a Level Two Consequence.
  • Friday School: Friday School is both a level one and a level two consequence that may be assigned by a classroom teacher or school administrator.
    • Parents or guardians will be notified when their child is assigned to Friday School.
    • Friday School runs from 2:35 to 5:35 on Friday afternoons.
    • Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation home from Friday School.
    • Students are expected to work on school assignments while in Friday School.
    • Students who misbehave or are disrepectful during the lunch detention step are choosing to trade a three hour Friday School for a day of In-School Suspension.
