6th Grade CAMP 2010
April 19 - 21 and April 21 - 23Check for updates in the CAMP section of our website.
What? We move school to the great outdoors for a few days every year. Students will experience some important hands-on science exploration, team-building challenge courses, and outdoor survival training. It's fun, challenging, and a great way to enhance student learning by making it real!
Where? This year we are very fortunate to work with Camp Colman, a YMCA facility located on the Key Peninsula just one hour away. Google Maps
Who? 6th grade camp is for all sixth-grade students and their core teachers. Because we have such a large group of sixth graders, Pioneer will have two sessions of outdoor school.
- Session 1: The downstairs team (Ms. Sullivan/Mr. Galligan, Ms. Stewart/Ms. Lowe)
- Session 2: The upstairs team (Ms. Brown/Ms. Byrd/Ms. Foyil/Ms. Nixon)
To make it work, however, we need 12 adult chaperones (six moms and six dads) and 12 high school student chaperones (six boys and six girls in the 10th or 11th grade) to join each session. Applications for adult and HS chaperones will be available for download soon.
